I have recently been cut off from using Claude until the end of the week in two days, way more strict than the usual few-hours long, so I investigated.
Anthropic is placing new weekly usage caps on its AI coding tool Claude Code, targeting a small group of subscribers who keep the service running around the clock or share accounts in violation of policy.

I never use Opus, only Sonnet, I do not run the model “around the clock,” and I do not share accounts. Yet I’ve hit my weekly limit after only 5 days. This is unacceptable for casual pro users.
If Anthropic is short on resources and needs to cut service to its paid users almost 30% of the time, then maybe they should make that clear instead of punishing normal use, or should increase the price, or recommend less intensive models for trivial tasks like Haiku.
As a result, I have unsubscribed and will take my business elsewhere.
In the meantime, I will be exploring other options while Anthropic fixes its business model. I’m currently working with Deepseek, which I am not satisfied with.
It’s a shame that the Claude model cannot be self-hosted, otherwise I would have been using it that way.
